Successful Breeding of Saltwater Fish Tank Aquarium Yellow Tang FishLCA webmaster
Although it is one of the most popular marine fish, the Yellow Tang has evaded attempts to breed successfully in captivity – until now. Researchers at the Hawaii Pacific University’s Oceanic Institute may have finally cracked it after a decade long study.
The problem seemed to be getting the balance of food and water right for the developing tangs, and for a long time they were not making it past the 50-day stage. Currently, the team of scientists working on this project has finally succeeded in raising a group of Yellow Tangs past the critical larval stage, making it one step closer to breed captive Yellow Tangs.
