Extreme Deep - Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute

A creative fabrication of a hydrothermal vent site, a geyser on the seafloor, discovered by the Woods Hole Scientist Group. This educational exhibit illustrated an intriguing anomaly of mineral-rich waters that supported a diverse community of organisms. Although most of the deep sea is sparsely populated, our team re-created a vent site with a fascinating array of life. Tubeworms, huge clams and eyeless shrimp were the most distinctive inhibitors of this newly discovered world. Boston Museum of Science, Boston, Massachusetts.
