Living Color has collaborated with 5W!TS to create TOMB, an incredible, interactive adventure set in a realistic ancient Egyptian Pharaoh’s tomb. TOMB is now open to the public in Boston, Massachusetts.”Living Color’s team of designers and artists developed the process by which we could recreate an image from an actual Egyptian tomb, digitize it and reproduce it on their CNC router to produce a convincing approximation of what is seen in an actual Egyptian burial chamber,” says 5W!TS President Matthew DuPlessie. “The Living Color team handled some very difficult design and fabrication challenges.”"The TOMB set was built in their Florida production facility and coordinated with the special effects which were produced in Boston-any time a project is coordinated over 1,500 miles, there are challenges, but Living Color did a superior job of accommodating design changes and working with the other contractors on the job” says DuPlessie.
The TOMB exhibit was designed to touch the five senses in some very special ways and employs lasers, fog, waterfalls, pneumatics, multi-channel audio, and computer controlled lighting to bring guests a first-of-its-kind experience that combines the best elements of theme parks, interactive museum exhibits, and haunted houses. Concludes DuPlessie, “We couldn’t have done it without Living Color!” |
