New Tack Box Designed by Horse Owners
Aluminum Edges and Finished Interior Expected to Triple Tack Box Life
Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., April 14, 2004
Addressing the needs of horse owners nationwide, Living Color Cabinetry has built a tack box that is sturdier, more functional and graphically superior compared to others on the market today. It is constructed of pre-finished maple on both the inside and outside that is resistant to mold, mildew and odors. In addition, the box is secured using nickel screws and nylon-coated tension latches, and all of the edges are wrapped in heavy-grade aluminum to prevent deterioration.
"Whereas most tack boxes last 3 - 4 years, I believe the Living Color tack box could last 10 - 15 years because of the top-quality materials they use to construct it," said Al Saul, president of Big Al's Stables, Inc. in Ontario, Canada. "The outside of the box is sharp-looking. All the edges are finished in aluminum, and the legs are solid on the bottom. Also, the inside is finished better than others on the market, so I expect the tack box to last longer."
Because of the abuse a typical tack box endures, the Living Color model is encased in lexan, proven to be impact resistant in the harsh environment of hockey rinks, where it covers the perimeter boards. The all-weather lexan is secured by wrap-around aluminum metal angles.
"We were initially approached to build a box for a large Midwestern breeder who had some specific ideas about what he wanted," said the product manager for Living Color Cabinetry. "We really did our homework, gathering and evaluating tack boxes on the market today and talking with many industry veterans. As a result of our efforts, we believe we've built a stronger tack box with graphic capabilities for current and future generations of horse owners."
Living Color's tack box, which measures 35 ½" L x 23 ¾" W x 30" H, sits on solid poplar slides 3 inches above the waterline to protect the product's base. Each box is constructed with exterior hardware manufactured by Stanley Products. The tack box is protected by an overlay padlock for extra security.
Through digital technology, Living Color can customize the exterior of the tack box to match any color and logo design.
In addition to being durable, secure and attractive, the Living Color tack box is also easier to transport than traditional models. There are two foldable nickel-plated handles on each side of the tack box, which are easy to grab when wearing gloves.
The interior of the box features solid hardwood interior slides and was built with extra support to handle heavy loads. The lid connects to the box via piano hinges that are screwed in every 3 inches to ensure proper alignment.
The Living Color tack box has removable compartments for remote operations. Also, for convenience and scheduling, the box lid features a built-in dry erase board.
