Among the most unique features of the new Miami Marlin’s Stadium are the twin Custom Saltwater Aquariums that flank either sides of home plate. The aquariums follow the low wall behind home plate and  are positioned to prevent any disruption to players on the field.

Each aquarium is built with a durable fiberglass structure. Crystal clear 22′  long , 1 ½” thick  acrylic panels run the entire length of the aquariums.   To safeguard the animals and aquariums from unexpected impacts;  Lexan, the material used in bullet proof windows, are installed in front of the acrylic panels to protect the aquariums from foul balls, errant pitches or any other unexpected contact.

The advanced aquarium filtration systems is a technological marvel.  The water from both aquariums is pumped to a Life Support System room located adjacent to the visiting team’s dugout.

Nestled on a barrier island, John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is an environmental treasure which has been preserved for present and future generations to discover and experience.

Visitors to the new Pew Family Natural Science Center experience a variety of interactive exhibits and beautiful aquariums. Living Color created 4 amazing aquarium exhibits  to provide visitors and staff  with hands on learning and research opportunities.

A10 ft diameter cylinder aquarium  showcases the rich and diverse Mangrove habitats around the park.  Using our industry leading techniques, our artists accurately recreated two different species of mangrove trees and pods. The exhibit features a tidal control system that lowers and raises the aquarium water level at a touch of a button.

Two 570 gallon aquariums depict the amazing coral reef formations around the park.   The  unique worm rock formations and bright orange encrusting sponge found on the reefs around the park were recreated with exacting detail. Our team made numerous research dive trips to ensure that the fabricated structures were reproduce with biological accuracy.

A 1300 gallon outdoor sea turtle tank houses juvenile sea turtles for rehabilitation prior to release.

Rainforest Cafe

On the heels of Living Color’s successful Rainforest Cafe aquariums at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we recently completed another amazing project for their Sawgrass Mills Mall location.

Using the original 15 year old inserts as a base structure, our team of artists completely renovated the old reef inserts. The large aquariums and inserts could not be moved and the restaurant had to remain open for business. To address this challenge, our team worked all night long for several weeks to complete the project.

We encapsulated the old fiberglass inserts with Living Color’s proprietary epoxy blend to create the amazing new custom coral reefs. We then attached hundreds of our revolutionary new 2-tone corals to complete this brightly colored whimsical project.

Three aquariums holds 4,000 gallons of water each and two smaller tanks total 2000 gallons. An acrylic bridge connects two large cylinder aquariums and thrills visitors as they walk below.

Nais Aquarium

Living Color Enterprises designed and built this turnkey Public Aquarium. The facility features one of the largest FRP and Acrylic Aquariums in the world. Located in Guatemala City, Guatemala, the Nais Aquarium is home to a technological gem that astonishes huge crowds daily with its beauty and realism. There are a total of 15 different aquarium exhibits within the Nais Aquarium facility. The main aquarium exhibit measures 40ft x 20ft x 7ft high and contains over 30,000 gallons of salt water. The entire aquarium was built at our Ft. Lauderdale headquarters, then disassembled, shipped and resembled on site in Guatemala. This incredible habitat is home to over 450 fish representing 38 exotic species which includes sharks, stingrays and moray eels.

A relaxing lounge area showcases an amazing Sting Ray aquarium built right in the Floor! While a circular tank above the bar allows patrons to watch fast swimming Look Down fish race around the aquarium.

This amazing public aquarium, includes a Marine Species Hospital, Quarantine Facility, Biology Lab and Nutritional Support Center. A team of marine biologists,and aquarium technicians work around the clock days to maintain this large aquarium facility. The three aquarium filtration systems designed and built by our Life Support System division keeps the aquarium water in optimum quality.

Living Color is proud to have worked with ICM on the breathtaking aquariums at the Scheels All Sports store in Sparks, Nevada. The 248,000 square foot mega-store opened in September 2008, and is the largest sporting goods store in the United States.

These beautiful custom archway aquariums, one freshwater and one saltwater are each over 43 feet in length. They hold a combined 32,000 gallons of water. Living Color was responsible for the design, fabrication, and installation of the Life Support Systems, Lighting and Aquarium Decor for the huge twin aquariums that grace the store. The complex project took more than 2000 man-hours for Living Color to complete.

The Loxahatchee River Center

Our talented team of designers and skilled artists created this gorgeous turnkey Nature Center.

Visitors to the new Loxahatchee River Center are able to experience a variety of interactive exhibits and beautiful aquariums. The River Centre takes guests on a mini-tour of the river’s habitats, starting with the cypress swamp and leading to estuaries with oyster reefs and mangroves, sea grasses, dock pilings and ending with coral reefs.

One of the feature exhibits is an 1,800-gallon freshwater aquarium that was built to represent the wild and scenic Loxahatchee River. Another exhibit allows guests to see firsthand how a flood plain works by unleashing a rush of water into a tank. An interactive display shows visitors see how difficult it can be to balance water uses.

Living Color artists created a giant replica cypress tree with a built-in video screen to greet visitors as they arrive. Our Cabinetry Division built all the woodwork, facades and even the gift shop.

The tour includes various educational components, such as graphics to show visitors where their drinking water comes from. Among the other interactive exhibits at the center is a touch tank where guests can interact with starfish, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, hermit crabs, snails and horseshoe crabs.

A large 1000 gallon custom saltwater aquarium representing Jupiter Inlet is another exhibit that is very popular with visitors for its beauty and realism.

Seaworld Discovery Cove-Grand Reef

Living Color designed and built 90 large artificial reef structures and over 13,000 synthetic corals for Seaworld’s exciting new Grand Reef at Discovery Cove. Using fiberglass, epoxy and urethane our skilled team of artists worked diligently for nearly 1 year to produce the gigantic life-like coral reef structures.

We developed a unique new technology to ensure The Grand Reef’s man-made coral maintains its vibrant colors. Each coral reef structure (weighing over a ton each) — is inflatable. When filled with air, the coral sections float to the surface for easy maintenance and cleaning.

Experience another Living Color creation at Allfish Emporium located in Tamarac, Florida. You enter the fish room through a tunnel framed by two fiberglass & acrylic 20′ L x 4′ D x 5′ H Bow Front Custom Aquariums containing 2,700 gallons of water each. At the end of the tunnel lies a 12′ diameter x 6′ tall shark tank with a water volume of 5,000 gallons. Walt Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon – Shark Reef

Journey through a shimmering paradise of the sea in Walt Disney’s Water Park, Shark Reef. The essence of Living Color Enterprises is playfully portrayed through our team of researchers, marine biologists, and artisans to create a dramatic reproduction of a natural coral reef. In a Typhoon Lagoon exclusive, guests come face-to-face with colorful tropical fish and real, live sharks of the Caribbean. As guests snorkel through this water wonderland, landlubbers can be entertained as they watch the action and gaze upon a reflection of our biggest resource through the portholes of an old shipwreck.

Living Color created textured fiberglass panels themed to look like coral stone and encrusted them with thousands of our life-like flexible artificial corals. This massive project showcases our ability to create detailed themed environments on any scale.
